As every year, IDPA recognised the efforts of documentary, short and ad filmmakers with the Awards for Excellence 2010. We had called for entries in March 2011, with early bird deadlines set for March 15. An extended deadline to July 15 2011, ensured that many well deserving entries could make it to the competition.

The Awards function, held at the Kohinoor Emerald Hall, Prabhadevi, was well attended by participants and members, winners and their families.

The Award trophy, that was recently designed and stands for all that IDPA signifies, has been the cynosure of all eyes.

The function began with a welcome address by President Mike Pandey, and introduction of the Chief Guest and Guests of honour. The Chief Guest was well known filmmaker Shaji Karun and the Guests of honour were Shri Bankim Kapadia from Films Division and Dr S S Kashyap from ONGC.
The various awards were given away by these dignitaries.

ABOUT THE AWARDS:
There were 38 categories under which filmmakers could submit their work for consideration and entries were received under 36 of these.
Total No. of films submitted were 212 with 289 entries.
