IDPA UPDATE, the newsletter of the Indian Documentary Producers’ Association comes to you as an occasional publication. This is part of our effort to keep you updated about developments in the world of film that may be of interest. This issue contains an invitation from the Film & Television Producers Guild of India followed by a list of upcoming film festivals compiled from various sources.

To introduce myself, I am Pooja Takale, the new Office Secretary of IDPA and I will be compiling items for this newsletter. Festival dates - 2nd and 3rd December, 2006.

Conditions:
No entry fee! Fill in the form and submit film in DVD format.
Duration of the film should NOT be more than 10 minutes.
The filmmaker should be present for the screening.

Master Class will take place at Night Club Squeeze on 12th Oct. @ 8PM where the Films should be submitted by Filmmakers and Films are critiqued and Filmmakers enlightened by our Guest Director.

II SOMS VIDEO FILM FESTIVAL 2006

Organised by School of Media Studies, Kochi (SOMS) in association with Information and Public Relations Department, Government of Kerala and the Kerala State Chalachitra Akademy.

Dates of festival not given, last date for entry is 10th November 2006.

Entries are invited under three categories
General: Short Fiction, Documentary and Animation open to all
Campus films: Student of any recognised college or academic institution can apply under Short Fiction, Animation and Documentary categories
Language Any language (with English subtitles)
Cash Award and a Certificate of Merit for the best videos in each category
Entries can be made in the form of VCDs or DVDs

Organised by Jahangirabad Media Institute at JMI campus
10, 11 and 12 of February 2007

Only student film makers can send their films. Films should have been completed between 15th April 2005 and 15th January 2007. Entries accepted in DVD or Mini DV format.

The award categories are:
1. Best fiction film (3-12 minute)
2. Best Fiction film (12- 30 minute)
3. Best non-fiction film (3-12 minute)
4. Best non-fiction film (12-30 minute)

Special categories:
1. Women’s issues
2. Communalism and fundamentalism

One entry can be sent for more than one category.
