IDPA UPDATE, the newsletter of the Indian Documentary Producers’ Association comes to you as an occasional publication. This is part of our effort to keep you updated about developments in the world of the short film that may be of interest to film makers like yourself.

The current issue has details of several upcoming film festivals which have invited entries of short films. These festivals include:

Green Unplugged film festival

Culture Unplugged Studios will be launching 'Green Unplugged' - the festival which hopes to unite us not only as film-makers but culture-makers. The festival will facilitate contemplation, connection & celebration of life, culture & nature through cinema. They invite green and socially conscious films that bring to light nature's demand to wake us to our future - an integrated individual and the human society. They want to share stories that reveal where we come from, our collective journey leading to our present and contemplating the path beyond. 

With this, Culture Unplugged wishes to create a global community of conscious creatives and their audiences, to reflect on issues and life experiences in contemporary world – creatives /storytellers wishing to express and exchange primarily through language of film (visual/aural communication), framing the spirit in motion.

Shekhar Kapoor (Film-maker/Director, India, Oscar Nominated 2007)

Post festival, they hope to launch a permanent venue with the film archive with the intention of promoting transformative films and film-makers on the global level. They intend to create an open and transparent system for film-makers and to facilitate dialogue among them, their audiences and other professionals to fertilise social consciousness.

Dear documentary professional,

The 16th edition of the FORUM for Co-financing documentaries will take place from 24-26 November. This year the FORUM will open its doors to projects in all stages of production: besides the regular projects, a limited number of Seedling projects and Rough cut projects will be selected for a pitch at the FORUM.

Docs for Sale 2008 will take place from 21-29 November. During this edition of Docs for Sale our new online marketplace, Docs for Sale Online, will be launched.

We are looking forward to receiving many inspiring documentaries and projects!

Film festival 2008

We carry an excellent track record of organizing, producing & presenting programmes & productions of fine & performing arts including dance, drama, music & films in India & abroad.

Since March 2008 we have organized world theatre day, world dance day & world music day with national & international presentations & performances under the umbrella of  ‘International cultural festival 2008 which we also organized in association with films division Mumbai. We are now organizing ‘International film festival 2008’ at Mumbai from 29th December -31st December with national & international presentation of films. This festival is going to be unique in its style & presentation. This is going to be an international film festival of the shortest duration and the best shortest film will also be awarded. We are also inviting applications with the copy of film recorded on VCD or DVD preferably PAL system. If you are interested you should courier the following documents within 15 days if possible, under the intimation to undersigned by e-mail within 2 days to : iccrindia@yahoo.co.in, bombayfilmcity@yahoo.co.in

The following documents need to be submitted at your earliest convenience to the address mentioned above.

1. VCD or DVD of the proposed film with the copy of its censored certificate.
2. Letter of declaration that you are the producer of the film & you are giving right to the international Centre for Cultural Relations for its preview, selection, screening & also use the same film for publicity & promotional activities.
3. Title of the film.
4. Duration of the film.
5. Language of the film. (Film which is either not in English language or subtitled in English shall not be considered.
6. Indian filmmakers entering in this festival should send a processing fee of Rs.500 per film by crossed demand draft drawn in favor of ‘International Centre for Cultural Relation’ payable at Mumbai.
7. If the film is selected for screening, the concerned filmmaker will be expected to pay a registration fee of Rs.1500 per film.
8. Please enclose the bio-data, 3-stamp size photos of the writer, director, producer & main actors of film.
9. Year & Month of the production of film.
10. Please mention the format on which the film has been shot for production.
11. Indian film makers who will be participating from out of Mumbai & willing to have hospitality (stay, meals, & local transportation) by us should pay an additional amount Rs.3000/- per head .This hospitality will be valid from one  day before on the date of the screening of your film till next following day upto 12 noon. We are also publishing a beautiful & memorable souvenier to be released on the occasion if you want to advertise about yourself and your film, you should request for a advertisement form through email.
12. 2 copies of the film scripts with synopsis in English within 5 lines  on which film production has been done and being send to us for consideration to participate in the film.
13. Payment for hospitality for 1 person will be valid for 1 person only.
14. If your film is not considered for screening after preview, the processing fee will not be returned.
15. Please do send your publicity materials after when your film has been selected for screening. You should also then send the details of the cast and credits involved in film.
16. We are open for any kind of subject foe this festival. So if we find at least a reason for viewers to watch your film either from the quality, content or treatment point of view, We would love to consider to include your film in our festival.
17. Their post should reach us within 15 days or by email within 2 days.
18. If you have film under production which you intend to send for our festival for consideration, you should email and post they details of your proposed film.
19. We will declare the list of the selected film by the end of November 2008 by email.
20. Schedule of the film will be handed over to you on the day of your arrival to Mumbai.
21. Script and synopsis of the film should be in English within 5 lines.
22. You will be expected to meet yourself the cost of your international and national air, train, bus or any private vehicles.
23. We undertake no other financial responsibilities except what we have committed for free local hospitality for the period of invitation.
24. You are requested to send a photocopy and proof your residence and photo ID.
25. Each and every participate will be awarded with certificate of this International Film Festival and the best film of the shortest duration will be also awarded separately.
26. You are also requested to share this news of our international film festival to your local newspapers and media and also your friends involved in film production.
27. We are open to consider films in categories of documentaries, fictions, features, festurette, animations or any kind of new experiments one wishes to show this on international platform.
28. You are also requested to send the details of your passport with its validity, date of issue and photocopy of your passport.
