IDPA UPDATE, the newsletter of the Indian Documentary Producers’ Association comes to you as an occasional publication. This is part of our effort to keep you updated about developments in the world of the short film that may be of interest to film makers like yourself. This issue contains a list of upcoming film festivals compiled from various sources.

CANNES Film Festival
Mr. Christian Jeune from CANNES Film Festival will be in Mumbai from 27th January to 3rd February for previewing and selection for the Cannes Film Festival 2008 at the NFDC Preview Theatre in Mumbai.
To be eligible for entry, the film should have been produced during the twelve months preceding the festival, should not have been released anywhere other than the country of origin and should not have been presented at any other international motion picture event or exhibited on internet.

Interested Producers / Distributors and Directors may kindly send their films (duly subtitled) along with synopsis and details of cast and crew and other details required by the festival (as per their web site) at their cost to National Film Development Corporation Ltd., Discovery of India Bldg., 6th Floor, Nehru Centre, Dr. A. B. Road, Worli, Mumbai – 400 018 for preview.
The films can be submmited in 35mm/Beta or DVD Format.

10th International Film Festival
of Mumbai (IFFM)
Dimensions Mumbai:
In its 10th year, the International Film Festival of Mumbai introduces an exciting new initiative-- Dimensions Mumbai, a competition of short films on the city.
The competition invites five minute films on any aspect of Mumbai; it is open to young film and media professionals and students from the city. The age of the participants should be 25 years or less.
There is an attractive cash prize of Rs 1lakh for the best film. The first runner-up wins Rs 30,000 and the second, Rs 20,000
The short-listed films will be screened during the IFF-Mumbai.
The last date for receiving entries is February 23, 2008.

Our main target group is the generation of developing young filmmakers but we are very delighted at every entry. You can enter in three categories: fiction, animation and experimental. Deadline: 3rd of May. www.busho.hu
the submission deadline for BuSho (Budapest Short) Film Festival 2008 is 3rd of May, 2008.
The festival is free for the public right from the start, accommodation and full board are provided for the international professional scientists and filmmakers and for the staff taking part in the organization. The main target audience of the international festival is the upcoming young generation of filmmakers, but we are open to entries in 3 categories (experimental, fiction and animation).
We have screenings in 3 halls (competition program, information screenings, and festival selections) among the traditional confines and full house of the competition program seems to certify us. Concerning the overall influence on the audience we have the buzz that they start to believe that we need this here in Hungary, becau, this kind of short film festival was missing.
Short Film, Long Bang! The 4th BuSho International Short Film Festival accepts entries in the categories of fiction, animation and experimental film.
Entry deadline: 3. May 2008.
