IDPA UPDATE, the newsletter of the Indian Documentary Producers’ Association comes to you as an occasional publication. This is part of our effort to keep you updated about developments in the world of the short film that may be of interest to film makers like yourself.

Invitation from Gwangju ACE fair 2008 at Korea
KOTRA (Kotra Trade-Investment Promotion Agency) which is the Trade Office of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, sponsored by Korean Ministry of Knowledge and Economy manages the Gwangju ACE Art, Contents & Entertainment Industry Fair 2008” scheduled on 4-7 September, 2008 at Korea. This fair represents Animation, Game, Edutainment Contents, Broadcast, Audiovisual, Character. The fair offers scope to showcase work in these growing sectors.
Kotra, Mumbai Office is offering following incentives to Exhibitors to showcase the strengths of Indian Animation, Game, Broadcast, Audiovisual & Content Creation and other industries and to give exposure to Indian companies at the global level. They are also providing incentives to Indian Buyers and Importers to see the new technologies available in the global market as follows:
[a] Exhibitors: (Limited Booths, First-Cum-First basis)
1. Free Booth
2. Three nights accommodation
3. US$ 100 as reimbursement for domestic transportation
[b] Buyers/ Importers for One-to-One Trade Meeting:
1. Two nights accommodation

4. One-to-One trade meeting with Korean Companies
The fair organisers have written to say, “We wish to inform you that last year, Mr. N P Singh, Chief Operating Officer of Sony Entertainment Television (SET India) inaugurated the show and delivered the theme address. We created the "Indian Pavilion" where the leading Indian companies participated - - Toonz Animation India, Sony Entertainment Television (SET); Animation Xpress, Last Mile Communications, etc. This fair was very successful as it generated $83 million business through participation of 166 Exhibitors (57 Overseas Companies) and 292 foreign buyers from 17 countries.
We would like to emphasis that this year also we would be creating an “Indian Pavilion”. We are expecting International contents entrepreneurs and buyers from 50 countries. Expected size of Gwangju ACE fair 2008 will be 9,072㎡ consist of 250 Exhibitors / 450 booths. 400 buyers will participate through Kotra overseas network of 100 Korea Trade Centers in 73 countries and 700 domestic buyers.
We are inviting Indian companies to participate as an “Exhibitor” and / or “Buyer” & shall support their above expenses. The last date to send Registration Form as Exhibitor is 14th July, 2008 and Buyer/ Importer is 31st July, 2008.

EARTH VISION the 17th Tokyo Global Environmental Film Festival
CALL FOR ENTRY
"EARTH VISION－ The 17thTokyo Global Environmental Film Festival" has been scheduled to be held from March 6 to 8, 2009.
Deadline of accepting entry film is as below.
Environmental Films Category: August 31 Sun., 2008
Environmental Films for Children Category: September 15 Mon., 2008
Submit a copy of the film on DVD or VHS tape along with then entry form (You can download it from our website and fill out the form) in a CD and its print-outs, and two copies of the script with complete dialogue and narration of the film (in English or Japanese) and still pictures of at least two different scenes from the entry film. GANDHI PANORAMA – OCTOBER 2008
Film Entry invited for GANDHI PANORAMA International Festival of Films on Gandhiji and his principles.
This is an International event to showcase and recognize authentic, artistic, effective and informative short films on Gandhiji and his principles. Due to be held between 2 & 4 October 2008 in Wardha, this film festival, on Mahatma Gandhi would feature films which depict the life of the Mahatma, his achievements, his followers, his principles, his memories, his aspirations, his dreams… that will surely touch the chords of viewer’s heart, we hope that if atleast a few among the viewers follow the lootsteps of Bapu, the world would be a better place to live. This remains the inspiration and the reason for the organising this international Film Festival on Mahatma Gandhi. Many renowned Gandhians, social-scientists, leaders, diplomas, thinkers, writers & film personalities would grace this event.
We want to invite all the living freedom fighters who have worked with Gandhiji, living Gandhians, film-makers/celebrities from various parts of the world, provide them hospitality, invite the world media and expect participation from the younger film-makers, workshops, seminars… we also like to have no entry fee for films or for film-viewers, so that everyone can see, to inspire. We wish to take this festival to prominent cities of the world if we get institutional/corporate support.

Call for Entries
The world's premiere Film and Documentary Festival showcasing first time documentaries and film's across 9 award categories including producers, directors, actors, screenplay writers, technicians from people of Asia - Pacific origin.
