IDPA UPDATE, the newsletter of the Indian Documentary Producers’ Association comes to you as an occasional publication. This is part of our effort to keep you updated about developments in the world of the short film that may be of interest to film makers like yourself.

If you wish to have your film considered for the Africa World Festival of Documentary Films:
please send us a copy of the film on DVD, and additional information on the film, including a synopsis and/or press kit, as soon as possible.
The closing date for submission is December 1 2008.
Viewing material should be insured by the sender and sent bia airmail or courier (at the sender's expense), along with the $25.00 entry fee to the festival:

Oberhausen Short Film & Video Festival
The festival edition for the Oberhausen Short film and video festival is to be held from 30 April to 5 May 2009. Please visit www.kurzfilmtage.de for more information.
As in previous years, works of all genres and formats may be submitted. They must not exceed a length of 35 minutes and must have been produced no earlier than 1 January 2007.
Please note that the festival screening for an international production has to be a German festival premier, which will ensure a lot more media and industry attention. Preview copies will be accepted on DVD only. DVD will, however, no longer be accepted as a screening format.
If you (or anyone else you know) would like to submit your film/video to the festival, please contact Shai Heredia <shaiheredia@gmail.com> at the earliest, as Shai says she needs to send the preview DVD to Oberhausen by December 14, 2008

Comedy Shorts: 30 minutes or less
Comedy Animated Shorts: 30 minutes or less
Comedy Shortie-Shorts: 5 minutes or less (Live-Action or Animated*)
Animated Shorts will be judged in the Animated Category regardless of length, although Animated Shorts 5 minutes or less will be eligible for the Shortie-Shorts price break.

Script Competition
The Kalpanirjhar Foundation has announced a Script Competition for a short fiction film – normal mode or animation – of not more than 30 minutes duration. The Best Script will fetch the Vivida Award that is comprised of a cash award of Rs.20, 000.
Entries are invited with a printout of three copies of the script in English, neatly typed double space on A4 sheets, along with a CD of the corresponding file in MS Word and other relevant particulars. The last date for the Vivada Award for the best short fiction film script is 31st December. Entries should be sent to:

CALL FOR ENTRIES
We are very happy to inform all the film makers that karimnagar film society (affiliated to federation of film societies of India) is organising its regular annual event ' NATIONAL SHORT AND DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL-2009' from 14-19 February 2009 at Karimnagar, Andhra Pradesh
The festival consisting of two sections:
1. The regular festival section with short and documentary films to be screened at main venue FILMBHAVAN and different college auditoria.
2. The second section of the festival we have introduced a competitive section for the short and documentary films, with cash prizes and 'INDIAN ROLLER AWARDS'.
