IDPA UPDATE, the newsletter of the Indian Documentary Producers’ Association is part of our effort to keep you updated about developments in the world of the short film that may be of interest to our members, film makers like yourself.

2nd 'Kirloskar Vasundhara International Film Festival'
from 22nd March to 29th March 2009, at Pune.
We are introducing competitive section for the first time. There will be ‘All India call for entries’ of short films up to 30 mins. 3 member jury panel will decide the best 3 short films. First 10 film makers will be awarded with trophy & cash prizes. Best 25 films will be screened during the festival.
Festival Regulations
Club Vasundhara is organizing ‘Kirloskar Vasundhara International Film Festival 2009’. This festival is dedicated to Environment, Wildlife, Energy, Air and Water.
Main Festival will take place at Pune (Maharashtra, India) from 22nd to 29th March 2009. It will travel to different states of India.
The completed entry form and DVD of the film, must reach to Vasundhara International Film Festival till 5th March 2009. Please use a separate entry form for each film submitted. All sections of the form are to be completed and every form must be signed.
The competition is of short films and documentaries. It is open only for Indian filmmakers, Directors and television production companies. Others can enter into non-competitive section. There is no Entry Fee. To qualify, the film must focus on some aspect of nature.
Films produced after 1/1/2005 will be eligible for the competitive section. For non-competitive section, there is no such bar.
25 Best Films from competitive section will be selected for screening. 10 best films will be
First Prize – Rs. 25,000/- + A Trophy +Certificate.
Second Prize - Rs. 11,000/- + Certificate.
Third Prize Rs. 7,000/- +Certificate.
Next 7 Films Rs. 2000/- +Certificate (For each Film).
Decision of the Juries will be Final. The entrants will be informed by email about their selection or rejection, by 10th March 2009.
The parcel of the DVDs send must be clearly marked with a customs declaration stating the following:”For cultural purposes only. No commercial value”. The parcel should be accompanied by an invoice stating a value of not more than -------- Costs arising from incorrect declarations will be charged to the account of the sender.
Films should be sent in DVD (PAL) format for screening. The film must be subtitled in English or Hindi if some other language is used. Please send 2 copies of the film for screening. Films should reach before 5th March 2009.
The documentaries and short films should not be more than 30 mins. Exceptions will be given in certain cases.
No film will be withdrawn from the Festival program.
The participants will be informed about the selection or rejection by email only.

6th Indian Film Festival 'Bollywood and beyond'

For the first time the Indian Film Festival 'Bollywood and beyond' is present at Asia's largest convention on the business of entertainment. In cooperation with German Films from Munich our curators Uma da Cunha from India and Therese Hayes from the US will give information on the festival and are available for meetings.

Film South Asia, the festival of Southasian documentaries, calls for entries for the seventh edition of its biennial festival being held in Kathmandu from 17-20 September 2009. Documentaries made in and after January 2007 are eligible for the competitive section.
Early Submission deadline for the entries: 31 May 2009 (for films made between January 2007 to April 2008)
Final submission deadline for entries: 30 June 2009 (for films made after April 2008)
